Supervisor Medical Billing
Position Summary:
Supervises day-to-day medical billing team to address billing problems that prevent submission of insurance claims and technical denials for claims not paid. May supervise a specific sub-specialty of billing operations.
**Laboratory Billing Sub-Specialty**
Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned:
1. Responsible for managing the daily operations of the billing/coding denial/problem resolution needs for insurance claims.
2. Develops process flow with standardized work instructions, creating a consistent approach for billing/coding insurance claim submissions.
3. Performs ongoing training, education, and remediation, as needed.
4. Monitors daily workload and analyzes progress of insurance claim submissions, ensuring resolution of coding and billing problems for a timely reimbursement of the claim.
5. Maintains knowledge of coding/billing requirements, documentation requirements and payer policies within the designated specialty.
6. Contributes to continuous quality improvement efforts and practices cost effective measures.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of billing or patient registration experience that includes third party billing and health care reimbursement.
OR
• Associate degree in finance, accounting, or healthcare related field.
• One year experience in billing or patient registration experience that includes third party billing and health care reimbursement.
Preferred:
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related field.
• Experience in field of department specialty, if applicable.
• Supervisory experience.
