Position Summary: Directs the personnel, operations, and financial activities of patient care services and various support functions performed in Karmanos Cancer Hospital. This leadership position is a master’s prepared nurse who has progressive hospital administration experience in strategic/program planning, budget development change management, human and material resources allocation and complex problem solving. Has the authority and responsibility for the development and implementation of patient care standards, and professional practice standards.  Has the authority and responsibility for the development and implementation of nursing standards, professional practice standards and oversight of all nursing care delivered.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates patient care services.
  2. Participates with governing body, management, medical staff, and clinical leaders in organizational decision-making and in designing and providing patient care services.
  3. Ensures the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and nursing standards in accordance with KCI standards of care, government, and licensing requirements.
  4. Develops operating budget, regularly reviews and reports on financial performance of patient care services and other assigned support functions and is accountable for budget variances. Develops and submits capital requests for assigned service areas.
  5. Participates in the establishment of hospitals operational policies, consistent with the organization’s mission and values.

Qualifications:

  1. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or Nursing.
  2. RN License to practice in the State of Michigan.
  3. Seven years progressively more responsible experience in oncology patient care, including at least two to three years experience managing personnel and developing programs for oncology patient care.
