Position SummaryWorks under the general supervision of the rehab manager/supervisor and direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist, physical therapist assistant, or occupational therapist.  Assists the therapists with patient treatments, scheduling, and overall efficiency of the department.  Promotes quality care by keeping the environment clean, orderly, and safe. 

 

 

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Transports patients to and from department as required and necessary.  Notifies nursing staff of patient’s departure from their units.
  2. Sets up necessary equipment and prepares treatment environment for the therapist.
  3. Assists the physical therapist, physical therapist assistant and occupational therapist in administering selected treatments as directed and according to established procedure.
  4. Provides additional physical assistance to those patients that require a second person in conjunction with the therapist with activities of transfers and gait.
  5. Prepares and cares for equipment and supplies necessary for the operation of department.
  6. Changes linen of treatment tables, carts, and mats.
  7. Maintains an adequate linen supply and assist with folding and storage.
  8. General cleaning of therapy areas as assigned and/or according to schedule, using prescribed cleaning techniques for infection control.

Qualifications:                                                                                                                                  
            Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS certification. 
            Preferred:
  • Experience in a health care setting preferred.
