Surgical Technologist Certified Ambulatory Surgery Center
Position Summary: Assists with the preparation of patients, rooms, and equipment for surgical procedures at the Ambulatory Surgery Center. Ensures proper care and use of surgical instruments.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assembles supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physician’s preference
- Inspects equipment for proper working condition
- Arranges instruments according to given procedure
- Assists in the preparation of patients for surgical procedure, including transport
- Maintains availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delays
- Passes sterile surgical equipment to surgeons during surgical procedure
- Ensures the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in operating room
- Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and takes action, according to policy
- Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
- Assists in maintaining adequate supplies in the operating room
- Assists in storing and stocking supplies as directed
- Performs other related job duties as requested.
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a surgical technology training program
- Certification as a surgical technologist from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date.
Preferred:
- Previous operating room experience
- Ambulatory Surgical Center experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers
