Surgical Technologist Certified
Hours: Variable start time VST 6:48 a.m. - 7:18 p.m.

Position Summary:
Perform functions to assist the operative team in the delivery of perioperative nursing care to return patient to optimal health.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge and competency in performing basic and specific surgical technician skills related to the role.
- Assists the RN, Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, Physician Assistant, and Perfusionist in the delivery of perioperative nursing care delineated by pre-operative and post-operative functions.
- Demonstrates safe medication management within operative field.
- Maintains a safe patient care environment.
- Responds to real or simulated emergency and disaster situations according to established procedure.
- Demonstrates competency in the utilization of specified equipment required for patient care.
- Assists the RN in the development of surgeon specific preference cards.
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining knowledge base and skills through continuing education and other learning experiences.
- Functions as assistant in cardiovascular procedures and as a first scrub or assistant in other specialties.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from an approved program for OR Technologists or minimum three years experience as a Surgery Technologist
- Certification as an Operating Room Technologist, if not current must be obtained within six (6) months of hire/transfer
- CPR issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross
