Student Nurse
Position Summary: Supports the Mission, Vision and Values of the Hospital. The nursing student’s clinical development will be guided and supervised by an experienced Registered Nurse. Provides direct care to the adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population under the direction of an RN. Utilizes the nursing process while demonstrating behaviors that support McLaren’s Values. Functions within a Team setting.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Supports the mission and vision of McLaren through behaviors that reflect and integrate our values, as evidenced by observation, peer and customer feedback.
- Assesses the holistic needs of patients through available resources.
- Contributes to the plan of care according to the needs of the adolescent adult & geriatric patients.
- Implements nursing care according to a developed care plan and a safe manner within the scope of documented competencies.
- Contributes to the evaluation of nursing care as determined by adolescent, adult and geriatric patient response.
- Contributes to the effective communication and efficient operational need of the department.
- Demonstrates personal management and growth.
- Performs other related job duties as requested.
- Completion of the med-surg clinical theory rotation
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
- Progressive active enrollment in nursing classes contributing to ADN/BSN completion
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic nursing assessment skills as covered in med-surg rotation.
- Satisfactory clinical performance evaluations.
