Registered Nurse - Pre-Op/PACU
Department: Anesthesia
Daily Work Times: Variable

Position Summary:
The registered nurse is a professional nurse who coordinates the delivery of nursing care for monitored patients during their hospital stay including cardiac monitoring, hemodynamic stabilization, responsive to emergent situations and care of evidence-based medicine patients.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Must possess valid State of
- BLS certified
- ACLS certified within 6 months of hire
- TNCC certified within 1 year of hire
- 2 years previous experience as an RN in PACU
Preferred:
- Previous experience working in OR/PACU/OP/ENDO
- Previous experience working in critical care
- Previous work experience within the specific unit specialty
- Specialty certification within the specific unit
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrates the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities in age-specific categories being served: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric
PACU – Phase 1

- Possess ability to perform various assessment techniques including cardiac rhythms and airway management; identify potential/actual problems related anesthesia and relevant surgical procedure; and consult with anesthesiologist/physician when appropriate using assertive communication skills.
- Utilize and troubleshoot specialty equipment (blood glucose monitor, IV Pumps, Bladder Scanner, ARJO lift/slides, EKG machine) in an independent and safe manner.
- Possess ability to perform various assessment techniques including cardiac rhythms and airway management; identify potential/actual problems related anesthesia and relevant surgical procedure; and consult with anesthesiologist/physician when appropriate using assertive communication skills.
