Position Summary: 

Responsible for the delivery of nursing care within the assigned unit scope of practice following organizational policies and procedures, nursing process guidelines, standards of care, and standards of practice.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

1.                  Assists in performing clinical procedures as directed by the physician/provider.

2.                  Collects, records, reports and maintains data.

3.                  Assesses each assigned patient, evaluates and documents their response to care and takes appropriate action.

4.                  Plans and implements patient care and provides patient teaching using Standard of Care.

5.                  Adheres to established principles of aseptic technique and infection control.

6.                  Prepares and administers medications and immunizations under the direction of the physician/provider.

7.                  Completes and maintains medical records, orders and documentation related to this position.

8.                  Assesses patients over the telephone and advises the patient per physician/provider and/or established telephone triage guidelines.

9.                  Oversees and evaluates Quality Control issues pertaining to the laboratory setting under the guidance of MGL Laboratory. Oversees ancillary clinical personnel for technical skills.               

10.              Seeks to improve quality of service by continuously developing individual and unit competencies within scope of practice.

11.              Assists physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants with office procedures.

12.              Schedules appointments.

13.              Calls in prescriptions as directed by physician/provider

14.              Maintains medical supply inventory in clinical areas.

15.              Assists with training and orientation of new staff.

16.              Communicates problems and identifies issues to manager/director and follows up and takes appropriate action as delegated.

17.              Maintains compliance with all required accreditation standards.

18.              Performs other related responsibilities as directed.

·         Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

·         Two years of professional nursing experience (experience specific to the practice/position may be required to maintain overall competency level of site as required by regulatory agency). Two years of cardiology experience required for Cardiovascular Group (non-nursing cardiology clinical professional experience may be considered for Registered Nurses not meeting nursing experience requirement).

·         Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse Michigan Registered Nurse license.

·         Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

·         Two years of professional nursing experience (experience specific to the practice/position may be required to maintain overall competency level of site as required by regulatory agency). Two years of cardiology experience required for Cardiovascular Group (non-nursing cardiology clinical professional experience may be considered for Registered Nurses not meeting nursing experience requirement).

·         Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license.

·         Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

·         Two years of professional nursing experience (experience specific to the practice/position may be required to maintain overall competency level of site as required by regulatory agency).
