Position Summary: 

This position will join our Clinic's Nurse Navigator team.  This team is responsible for surgical boarding, pre-operative patient education and clearance management, post operative questions, triage, medication refills and other duties as assigned.  Attention to detail, compassion, the ability to work independently and a positive outlook are crucial. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

1.                  Assists in performing clinical procedures as directed by the physician/provider.

2.                  Collects, records, reports and maintains data.

3.                  Assesses each assigned patient, evaluates and documents their response to care and takes appropriate action.

4.                  Plans and implements patient care and provides patient teaching using Standard of Care.

5.                  Adheres to established principles of aseptic technique and infection control.

6.                  Completes and maintains medical records, orders and documentation related to this position.

7.                  Assesses patients over the telephone and advises the patient per physician/provider and/or established telephone triage guidelines.

8.                 Seeks to improve quality of service by continuously developing individual and unit competencies within scope of practice.

9.                 Calls in prescriptions as directed by physician/provider

10.              Assists with training and orientation of new staff.

11.              Communicates problems and identifies issues to manager/director and follows up and takes appropriate action as delegated.

12.              Maintains compliance with all required accreditation standards.

13.              Performs other related responsibilities as directed.

REQUIRED

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. 
  • Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification as Healthcare Provider required as directed by clinic administration.
  • Experience in specialty area will be considered. Experience specific to the unit/position may be required to maintain overall competency level of unit, as required by regulatory agency.


PREFERRED

  • One year of professional nursing experience.
  • ACLS preferred in other units.
