Through the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, McLaren Health Care is the largest provider of oncology care in Michigan.  As our cancer program grows, effort must be extended to organize cancer services in strategic regions of McLaren’s coverage area.  The purpose of this position is to provide focused leadership for all aspects of oncology care. This position provides leadership for the overall strategic direction, business development, performance improvement, physician collaboration, market influence, market share growth, patient satisfaction and operations at the aforementioned subsidiaries providing oncology services.  Special emphasis shall be given to cancer network integration, best practice adoption, and completion of goals and initiatives of the cancer service line.  The Director, in a matrix manner, shall report to the Dir, Community-Based Programs Karmanos Cancer Institute. 

  • Bachelors degree. 
  • Management degree in Healthcare administration or Business Administration preferred.
  •  Clinical employment background desired.
  • Five-ten years of progressive management experience. 
  • Previous work in oncology is desired.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals both within and outside the organization.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in a fast paced environment utilizing tact, patience, and diplomacy.
  •  Knowledge of regulatory standards of care (such as ACOS and JCAHO) for Oncology Services. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information systems concepts, budget processes, marketing strategies and strategic planning methodologies.
