Position Summary: 

The Physician Liaison addresses the needs of the community physicians functioning as a direct liaison between the physicians’ offices and hospital services to achieve improved communication and relationships. This position plays a vital role in executing the organization’s plans to grow patient services and improve payer mix. The Liaison develops, coordinates, and implements strategies and programs that result in improved relations and increased referral to McLaren Greater Lansing.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

1.      Serves as a liaison between the physician community and McLaren Greater Lansing with focus on retention of medical staff.

2.      Visits physician’s offices to interact with doctors, office managers, and key staff, detailing MGL’s programs and services, and determining key issues experienced by the physician and his/her staff.

3.      Work directly with hospital leadership to improve services provided to physicians, physician offices and their patients.

4.      Assists with the development and implementation of physicians’ satisfaction strategies.

5.      Works with clinical leadership to develop opportunities to build relationships with referring community hospitals and to educate same of MGL’s services.

6.      Support doctor-related endeavors including screening programs, educational activities, and other educational activities within the Medical Center, social settings or referring community hospitals.

7.    Participates in physician and ad hoc committees as a liaison to hospital operations.     

Qualifications:

            Required:

·         Bachelor Degree in marketing, healthcare administration/management or a clinical discipline. 

·         Minimum of three years in health care, medical-related sales, or recruitment.

·         Allied health professional must maintain current license or registration.

·         Valid State of Michigan driver’s license.

          Preferred:

·         Master’s Degree in marketing, healthcare administration/management, or a clinical discipline.

·         Strong clinical background such as RN or other allied health professional.

·         Direct experience with referring primary care physicians.

·         Pharmaceutical sales experience highly desirable.
