Patient Safety Associate
- Remains with and observes the assigned patient(s) at all times. Immediately summons the RN if the patient requires assistance or nursing intervention.
- Receives report on the patient’s anticipated behavior. Reports any unusual or potentially dangerous behavior to the RN.
- Observes and alerts RN to any items that are accessible or available to the patient that may be harmful to that patient.
- Reports to the RN in charge of the assigned patient upon arrival to the unit. Receives patient report and assigned meal/break times. Reports off to the RN in charge of the patient prior to leaving for meal/breaks, at the completion of the shift, and whenever leaving the patient for any reason. Never leaves the patient without relief to ensure patient is in constant observation.
- When no sitter assignment available employee will perform customer service rounds within nursing unit. Customer service rounds will include but not limited to the following: Patient /family/visitor comfort measures, obtaining blankets, pillows, beverages upon request. Assisting with ordering and setting up meal trays. Keeping unit clutter free. Obtaining chairs for visitors. Ensuring all visitors have visitor pass. Assist with patient updates/communication between patient and nursing staff. Assist with ambulation to the bathroom.
- High School Diploma or GED
- No prior work experience is required
- One year of prior work experience in Acute care/Medical experience preferred
