Summary:       Under the supervision of a Licensed Respiratory Therapist, responsible for providing technical support to Respiratory staff and assisting in the delivery of patient care following hospital and departmental policies, procedures and standards of care.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

1.                   Completes and documents, physical assessments, vital signs,.

 

2.                   Provides routine patient care such as Aerosol therapy, Oxygen rounds, EKG’s, and CPR.

 

 

3.                   Provides general clerical support to unit such as answering phone, data entry, assembling, maintaining, and distributing various information.

 

 

4.                   Transcribes physician orders and notifies appropriate parties of orders and consultations.

 

5.                   Performs general unit support activities such as keeping work area clean and presentable, running errands, making delivers.

 

6.                   Maintains medical record in an orderly fashion with documents placed under appropriate chart dividers.

 

 

 

7.                   Performs proper labeling of specimens and follows laboratory procedure for patient identification.

 

8.                   Performs other related responsibilities as necessary.

9.                   Demonstrates knowledge of labeling specimens.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of a Paramedic training program.

 

Experience: One-year experience in the pre-hospital setting preferred. Nursing assistant experience preferred. Familiarity with Windows applications preferred. Coursework in medical terminology preferred.

 

Licensure: Current State of Michigan Paramedic license or National Paramedic Registration required. Current BLS/ ACLS certification by American Heart Association. TCEMCA authorization.

 

Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Extensive walking and standing. Lifts, positions, pushes, and transfers patients. Regularly exposed to the risk of blood born diseases and unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, and illness). Must be able to handle emergency and crisis situations. Occasionally subjected to irregular work schedules.
