Nurse Navigator - Proton Beam

Position Summary: Provides direct patient care and comprehensive coordination of care for patients and their families/caregivers. Eliminates barriers to timely care, facilitates flow through system, facilitates interactions with clinical research office, increases patient and provider satisfaction, maintains point of contact with providers and serves as the first point of contact for patients and families. Provides a full range of nursing services, including assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with professional practices and ethical standards.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provides direct patient nursing care for specified patients [may include wound care, ostomy care, accessing port/PICC lines, appropriate supportive care and administration of chemotherapy, blood components, fluid and electrolyte replacements, and other oncology treatments as prescribed].
- Performs nursing assessments and triage of patient care needs for new and ongoing patients, including patients on a clinical research study.
- Oversees the planning, scheduling, and implementation of day-to-day clinical activities and procedures for navigated patients.
Required:
- Nursing degree from an accredited educational institution.
- State licensure as a registered nurse.
- Three years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- BLS certification.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing.
- One year prior work experience in clinical area.
