Medical Assistant
Dept: Multispecialty Clinic
Hours per pay period: 80
Schedule: M-F 800am - 500pm
Position Summary:
Assist personnel in all aspects of a medical office practice including but not limited to taking vital signs, carrying out procedures, providing treatment, administering injections, venipuncture, and phlebotomy. Must also be able to assist with filing, patient intake and discharge, scheduling and general clerical functions.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provides preliminary patient assessment, including taking vital signs and history, and basic patient preparation for procedures.
- Stocks and orders inventory of supplies.
- Cleans and maintains environment and equipment.
- Maintains inventory of sample medications, monitoring expiration dates and recalls.
- Communicates and/or documents information accurately, utilizing proper protocol and maintaining confidentiality.
- Updates patient charts as needed using charting protocol; inputs information accurately and timely in patient’s EMR.
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or one year of prior work experience as a Medical Assistant
- BLS card from AHA required before start date (valid at least 60 days beyond start date)
Preferred:
- Medical Assistant Certification
