Medical Assistant
Dept: Rapid Diagnostic
Hours per pay period: 72
Schedule: 7a - 7p or 7p - 7a
Position Summary:
Assist personnel in all aspects of a medical office practice including but not limited to taking vital signs, carrying out procedures, providing treatment, administering injections, venipuncture, and phlebotomy. Must also be able to assist with filing, patient intake and discharge, scheduling and general clerical functions.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Provides preliminary patient assessment, including taking vital signs and history, and basic patient preparation for procedures.
2. Stocks and orders inventory of supplies.
3. Cleans and maintains environment and equipment.
4. Maintains inventory of sample medications, monitoring expiration dates and recalls.
5. Communicates and/or documents information accurately, utilizing proper protocol and maintaining confidentiality.
6. Updates patient charts as needed using charting protocol; inputs information accurately and timely in patient’s EMR.
7. Trouble shoot technical equipment problems, timely notifying proper department(s) of equipment problems to maintain quality of patient care.
8. Responsible to maintain patient callbacks on a regular daily basis.
9. Determine and report in a timely and appropriate manner to the physician(s) and/or manager any situation requiring intervention beyond own capabilities or authority.
10. Supports and demonstrates the Service Excellence values and philosophy through daily conduct.
11. Attend staff meetings as scheduled and/or requested and/or required to update on training, sharpen skills, be actively informed, and maintain open lines of communication with all staff members.
12. Performs other related job duties as requested.
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program or one year of prior work experience as a Medical Assistant
- BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date.
Preferred:
