Position Summary: Provides overall technical direction and administration to sleep center personnel, ensuring system of service delivery operates efficiently and effectively.  Regularly reviews and revises, as necessary, sleep center standards and ensures procedures performed comply with all hospital, system, and regulatory agency standards.  Coordinates provision of sleep center services with other medical functions and serves as technical resource for departmental personnel. Meets and consults peers for policies, procedures, forms, instrumentation, equipment, and supplies to promote standardization across the system.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities as assigned:

  1. Plans and administers directly, and through subordinate supervisory personnel, the effective management and delivery of diagnostic and treatment sleep center services in accordance with all hospital, system, and regulatory agency standards.
  2. Ensures quality, financial, and customer service objectives are met.
  3. Develops, secures approval of, and administers capital and operating budgets in order to meet agreed-upon departmental goals and objectives.  Develops and implements appropriate methods to monitor adherence to budgets and resolve variances.
  4. Serves as technical resource to subordinates in resolving complex problems and in investigating and recommending corrective actions in response to incident reports and/or patient complaints.
  5. Reviews and approves recommendations for department equipment modifications, new supplies, and minor equipment purchases.
  6. Recommends and secures approval of major capital expense items initiating bidding process with vendors and upon approval, awarding bids.
  7. Fosters smoothly running sleep center function through timely and effective resolution of disruptions.
  8. Ensures the attainment of objectives through the selection, development, training, and evaluation of sleep center staff.
  9. Ensures that all sleep center activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, federal, and governmental regulations and laws.
  10. Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Completed training in polysomnography in a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) program with the polysomnography option.
  • Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential through the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM), National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT), or another organization that offers an equivalent examination accepted by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).
  • Three years of professional experience in assigned unit scope of practice, including five years of supervisory, team leader, or demonstrated leadership experience

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or health services administration.
