Manager Rehabilitation Services
Position Summary:
Manages overall departmental operations related to program planning, budget, staffing, productivity and performance improvement. Regularly reviews and revises rehab services standards, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with hospital, system, and regulatory agency standards. Coordinates provision of rehab services and is a resource to both staff and physicians. Responsible for knowledge and expertise of current standards of practice and emerging practice developments in the rehabilitative field.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates understanding and competence in all areas of Evidence-Based Leadership including: leader rounding, thank you notes, stoplight reports, 30/90 day conversations, leadership development institutes, linkage grids, skills validation, AIDET, and High-Middle-Low conversations.
2. Plans and administers directly or through supervisory personnel, the effective management and delivery of rehab services in accordance with all hospital, system, and regulatory agency standards.
3. Promotes a positive engaging work environment for employees, students, and patients. Mentors or coaches employees to ensure a patient-centered approach.
4. Assists with developing and administering capital and operating budgets in order to meet agreed-upon departmental goals and objectives. Implements appropriate methods to monitor adherence to budgets and resolve variances.
5. Maintains records, reports, and other documentation related to the work.
6. Seeks to improve quality of services by developing individual and departmental competencies within scope of practice.
7. Develops, interprets, and administers departmental policies, procedures, protocols, rules, regulations, and instructions.
8. Serves as resource for resolving complex problems, investigating and recommending corrective actions in response to incident reports and/or patient complaints.
9. Recommends equipment modifications, new supplies, and minor equipment purchases for the department. Maintains inventory of supplies and provides the tools and resources necessary to provide rehab services.
10. Selects, develops, trains, disciplines, and evaluates staff on performance and competency.
11. Ensures that all rehab services activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, laws, accrediting bodies, and insurance regulations. Assists with ensuring quality, financial, and customer service objectives are met.
12. Collaborates with other hospital departments to promote cooperation and efficiency in providing patient's therapy care needs.
13. Actively participates in and supports rehab education programs and professional development.
14. Evaluates, recommends, educates, and implements new procedures, programs and/or processes.
15. Assists director with marketing activities to grow market share and to meet physician, patient or community needs.
16. Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Required:
- Graduate of a degree program in physical therapy, occupational therapy or speech/language pathology.
- Current state license in field.
- Three years of professional therapy experience -OR- one year of professional therapy experience with three additional years of business/leadership experience.
- BLS certification.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in physical therapy, occupational therapy or speech therapy.
- Two years’ experience in supervision.
