Manager Infection Prevention

Pay Range: $87,1720.00 - $139,464.00 Annual
Position Summary
Provides overall technical direction and administration to Infectious Disease department, ensuring it operates efficiently and effectively. Regularly reviews and revises, as necessary, infectious diseases standards and ensures procedures performed comply with all hospital, system and regulatory agency standards. Fosters continued development of a comprehensive, integrated plan for infection surveillance, prevention, control, and process improvement throughout the organization. Works with clinicians and administrators to improve patient outcomes and reduce Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) and related adverse events.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Plans and administers directly, and through subordinate supervisory personnel, the effective management of infection prevention procedures in accordance with all hospital, system and regulatory agency standards.
- Develops, reviews and revises policies and procedures based on evidence-based practice that protect the health and safety of patients, hospital staff, and the community.
- Develops, secures approval of and administers capital and operating budgets in order to meet agreed-upon departmental goals and objectives. Develops and implements appropriate methods to monitor adherence to budgets and resolve variances.
- Responsible for facilitating a comprehensive and effective surveillance, prevention and control program to ensure quality care as it relates to nosocomial infections in patients, employees, physicians and visitors.
5. Develops and supports a system for regular collection, analysis and dissemination of surveillance data based upon standard definitions.
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, or epidemiology.
· Three years of work experience in infection prevention and control.
· Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required within three years of date of hire.
Preferred:
· Master’s degree in nursing, public health, or epidemiology
· Current state licensure as a registered nurse
· Completion of APIC Infection Control and Epidemiology Coursework
· Certification in Infection Control (CIC)
