Ensures safe nursing practice for medical oncology practices. The Manager Clinical Medical Oncology is responsible for the coordination, organization and implementation of standardized policies and procedures relating to oncology patient care, and operational and fiscal aspects of the oncology practice. Also ensures the delivery of quality cancer care. The Manager will demonstrate the ability to anticipate and recognize patient/department needs, build a cohesive team, communicate the vision, and inspire staff to exceed patient expectations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides clinical nursing support for nurses and medical assistants within assigned region. Ensures annual nursing skills and competency evaluations are completed at assigned regional sites.
• Ensures that all clinic staff licenses remain current, including physicians, advanced practitioners, and staff.
• Strategizes, develops, and implements standardized administrative and clinical policies and procedures to ensure implementation of "Best Practice" standards.
• Hires, trains and orients new employees. Ensures clinic staff are provided training and educational resources on an ongoing basis. Ensures staff are effective trained in customer service skills and face-to-face interactions.
• Supervises staff and identifies appropriate staffing levels. Administers annual performance evaluations.
• Ensures department payroll is completed and forwarded to appropriate individuals in a timely manner.
• Leads clinic team in the training and use of the electronic medical record. Functions as a super-user of the system.
• Assists Regional Director Cancer Services in preparing annual budget(s) for operating revenues and expenses and capital expenditures. Meets or exceeds budgeted patient volume targets and financial assumptions for assigned practices.
• Partners with Regional Director Cancer Services, reimbursement, and pharmacy to create a profitable reimbursement model to ensure efficient and complete capture of all oncology related charges.
• Analyses and maintains oncology department key operating indicators and financial statistics. Prepares month end reports including variance reports. Notes utilization trends and productivity of physicians.
• Assists Regional Director with developing and implementing strategic planning and development of goals and objectives for the assigned cancer center facilities consistent with the strategic plan.
• Assists with the establishment of programs and services to ensure compliance with ACoS, Coc, QOPI, ASCO, HFAP, and other regulatory agencies.
• Assists Regional Director with recruitment of new physicians.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
