IT Database Administrator
Position Summary:
Responsible for the management of database services in a large enterprise. Responsibilities include managing the full lifecycle of database infrastructure while applying creativity and industry best practices. Day to day activities include database operations (incident, problem, change, configuration) and project work (architecture, design, planning, implementation).
- Designs, installs, manages, upgrades, documents, supports and decommissions databases, collaborating with various partners (e.g. applications, data, middleware, server, etc…)
2. Maintain database backups and archives to support data recovery
3. Work with security analysts in assessing and remediating security vulnerabilities, database code updates to meet industry and DBMS vendor standards
4. Serve as a subject matter expert on Database technology and associated resources, including tools and best practices for upgrades, and cloud-based database technologies.
5. Engage with third-party vendors (e.g. Microsoft, Oracle, etc…) for database support and set guidelines for in-take of vendor provided database management systems.
6. Troubleshoot complex Database technical problems, reducing the potential causes of a problem down until reaching an ultimate cause or solution.
7. Operate with high efficiency to intake projects, identify potential opportunities for database optimization and recommend solutions that are deployable and fit with enterprise vision.
- Partner with other technologists and project managers to plan and implement databases which support business requirements

Qualifications:
Required Education/Experience:
High School diploma and 10 years related experience in IT operations
OR
Associates degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and 7 years in IT operations
OR
Bachelor’s degree Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering; and 5 years in IT operations
- 5 years experience of technical database administration
- 5 years hands on experience with two or more database technologies such as: Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Access, and SimpleDB, as well as cloud database services
- 3 years hands on experience with two or more operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, AIX, or cloud-based platforms, such as AWS or Azure.
Preferred:.
- Current industry standard certifications
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation certified
- Experience in complex health care IT systems
