Insurance Verification Specialist (Lapeer Oncology)
Position Summary:
The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for participating in hospital activities that directs customers, collects patient demographic and insurance information and processes that information via an internal computer system for collections and reimbursement.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1) Interprets patient/visitor requests for services.
2) Meets with patient/representative to obtain necessary registration/insurance information.
3) Verifies insurance for all Inpatient, Outpatient Surgery and others as necessary.
4) Work closely with Case Management and Patient Accounting to secure hospital payment.
5) Coordinates request for application of payment assistance.
6) Performs other related duties as assigned .
7) Reports equipment failure to designated repair source.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- One year experience in an insurance health care setting
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive contact with department staff and various McLaren Oakland staff members.
- May come in contact with physicians, patients and/or patients’ families.
- Ability to interpret insurance benefits and apply them to patient services.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and maintain calm composure with customers.
