HVAC Technician
Position Summary:
Under general supervision installs, services, maintains and repairs air conditioning, refrigeration, heating units and other related small appliances in accordance with requirements and standards. May also perform general maintenance and repair tasks.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Performs preventive maintenance, adjustments, and basic repairs on both pneumatically controlled and digitally controlled HVAC systems.
2. Performs seasonal overhauls and transitions of systems to and from heating/cooling.
3. Participates in major component replacement and evaluation of complex system problems.
4. Performs building system repairs in coordination with operators of the centralized Energy Management and Control System.
5. Maintains knowledge of building management system, performs standard duties as systems operator; can detect trouble in system with reasonable success.
6. Evaluates/modifies ventilation systems to improve cooling/heating efficiency and comfort.
7. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
8. Adheres to current rules and regulations related to HVAC so that systems pass inspection the first time.
9. Completes work orders, records material utilized on jobs and other required documentation.
10. May also perform general maintenance and repair tasks as required.
11. Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Training beyond high school in related programs.
- Four years of related experience.
- Refrigeration certification.
- Valid state driver's license.
· Driving record must be within the approved insurance company’s regulations.
Preferred:
· Previous experience in health care industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and policy and procedures manuals.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
2. Demonstrated ability to trouble shoot and repair systems in a timely manner.
3. Demonstrated skill to accurately estimate time and materials in a project.
4. Knowledge of organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
5. Ability to maintain confidentiality in patient and personnel communications.
6. Demonstrated ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
7. Demonstrated ability to interact with people at various levels in a courteous, tactful and poised manner.
