Electronic Medical Record Support Specialist
Position Summary:
The Electronic Medical Records Support Specialist assists in evaluating clinical operations and workflow addressing needs of individual offices and other health care facilities. Primarily responsible for database management and functions that support our EMR clients. Assists in resolving critical problems related to implementation.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Database support of hosting system- client builds physician updates, ICD update and other system services.
2. Assists in planning interfaced systems for automated ordering and result return of patient data.
3. Coordinates and monitors outreach ordering and result return for accuracy and timeliness.
4. Assists in data collection and design of reports for physicians, external outreach clients and accrediting agencies.
5. Assist in testing, writing procedures, training and in servicing of users on software updates and implementation.
6. Prepares and maintains relevant system user documentation for HIPAA compliance and security. Develops user groups and maintains correct security for needs of laboratory and client staff.
Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of technical or professional experience in a hospital based clinical laboratory with demonstrated experience in EMR connectivity for the delivery of laboratory outreach services.
• Three years’ experience in working knowledge of computers and computer interfacing in health care environment.
• Excellent communication skills both written and spoken.
