Location: McLaren Macomb

Position Summary:

Responsible for the successful operation of the Surgical Center at Mount Clemens- Macomb. In collaboration with the physician medical director and appropriate administrative, management and staff, the position plans, organizes, develops and directs activities within the surgical center.  Responsible and accountable for helping ensure the provision of high quality, cost effective care, as well as the growth, development and continued profitability of the surgical service line. 

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

 

1.            Responsible for day-to-day administrative operations in the surgical center.

 

2.            Communicates surgical center objectives and jointly establishes individual objectives and performance criteria with key constituents.  Provides ongoing feedback, reinforces positive performance, and takes appropriate actions as necessary to improve performance.

 

3.            Collaborates with medical staff, administration, department managers and staff to develop goals, objectives and strategic/communications/marketing/sales plans for the continued growth and development of the surgical service line.

 

4.            Assures coordination of all aspects of the delivery of surgical services.

 

5.            Maintains the necessary level of professional knowledge and technical proficiency in areas of functional responsibility.  Participates in the identification, planning and evaluation of education for health professionals and the public.  Maintains current knowledge of health care trends, concepts, and practices, by participating in workshops, seminars, and professional organizations.

 

6.            Develops, maintains, and evaluates organizational systems that support implementation of plans.

·         Participates in the development, evaluation, and maintenance or organization systems that integrate policies and procedures with regulations, practice standards, and clinical guidelines based on research findings and institutional measures of quality outcomes.

·         Collaborates in the design and improvement of systems and the identification of resources that assure interventions are safe, effective, and efficient.

 

7.            Evaluates plans and progress in relation to the attainment of outcomes.

·         Promotes implementation of processes and resources that deliver data and information to empower staff to participate meaningfully in clinical decision making.

·         Sets priorities for allocation of resources.

·         Advocates for resources sufficient to provide time for critical assessment and evaluation of desired client-centered outcomes.

 

8.      Maintains effective verbal and written communication and public relations with patients, visitors, medical staff, senior administration, bargaining unit members and staff.

 

9.      Performs other related job duties as requested.

Qualifications:

Required:

·         Bachelor's degree required (BS)

·         Ten years work experience in health care including successful experience in surgical center operations.  Prefer experience with successful track record in development of business goals and operating procedures to meet volume, quality, and patient/physician satisfaction goals.

 

     Preferred: 

·        Masters degree preferred or equivalent in business, finance or health related field
