Director Philanthropy
Position Summary: Under the direction of the CEO and Foundation Board, has the responsibility of ensuring the foundation stays on track to accomplish its goals and objectives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned:
1. Plans and administers directly the effective management and delivery of foundation programs and services meeting all objectives as outlined by the Foundation board and hospital CEO.
2. Provides oversight to the foundation team and key volunteers to identify, cultivate, and solicit major, planned, endowment, capital, and other special gifts from assigned prospects and donors.
3. Assists in the development of the foundation annual budget. Ensures that all funds, physical assets and other property of the foundation are appropriately safeguarded, insured, and managed. Participates in the preparation of an annual audit for the foundation.
4. Works with the foundation board, executives, key development and leadership staff, and volunteers to gather and use appropriate donor and prospect research in order to understand historical giving patterns, organizational interest, and ability to give to maximize donor relationships and provide appropriate opportunities for giving.
5. Strategically cooperates with the fundraising and marketing teams to use the presence of CEO and key volunteers in contacts with key donors and constituencies in a manner that maximizes giving and donor satisfaction.
6. Builds long-term relationships with key donors and promotes a culture of philanthropy to key stakeholders in order to help them understand the organization and the impact they can have on the lives of patients, residents and community.
7. Provides full disclosure to prospective/existing donors in all communications to ensure informed decisions in response to appeals for their support.
8. Adheres to industry, organizational, and donor policies and restrictions such as code of ethics, confidentiality, gift acceptance policies, restricted gifts, government regulations, etc. Clarifies, monitors, and implements the donor's instructions by ensuring that expenditures are appropriate and documented properly in all department records.
9. Will manage an individual portfolio of donors for solicitation, stewardship and cultivation using Moves Management methodology.
10. Ensures quality, financial, and donor relations objectives are met according to Philanthropy leader’s strategic goals.
- Improves function and reliability of systems and processes by studying performance results; identify, recommend, and implement changes, expansions, and additions.
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; comply with legal codes and regulations.
13. Stays current on knowledge of technology and state and federal regulations.
14. Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Qualifications:
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public relations, communications or related field.
· Minimum of 5 years of fund-raising and non-profit experience including at minimum of three years in a leadership role.
Preferred:
· Master’s degree.
· Experience fundraising in a healthcare setting.
· CFRE - Certified Fund Raising Executive accreditation.
