Director Patient Care Services
Job Summary: Reporting to the Senior Vice President & CNO and through subordinate staff directs the personnel, operations and financial activities for all inpatient areas and BMT program components. Plans, implements and evaluates processes related to performance improvement, staffing effectiveness, fiscal management, staff competence and customer service outcomes within designated units/services. Ensures that regulatory requirements/standards are communicated, implemented and monitored. Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to plan, implement & evaluate activities related to department, hospital and KCI objectives. Models customer service excellence and ensures assigned areas adhere to customer service practices.
Responsibilities:
- Plans, directs, and coordinates patient care services for assigned areas. Ensures adequate staffing levels.
- Assure quality and appropriateness of care. With performance improvement coordinator develops unit based quality improvement programs and supports continuous improvement processes. Use processes and metrics to manage/measure accountability for self and assigned unit.
- Creates an environment of shared decision-making. Promote multidisciplinary collaboration on patient care and related issues. Serve as a facilitator by removing barriers that prevent staff from effectively and efficiently performing their roles
- Ensures positive customer relations with physicians, patients, families, visitors and employees; follows up on all complaints and provides feedback. Monitor level of patient, staff and physician satisfaction.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate staff development & competency maintenance programs. Ensure that elements of performance improvement findings are incorporated into educational programs as appropriate. Support professional growth and development programs in collaboration with the director, clinical manager, ensure staff participation in orientation, mandatory and continuing education programs and other staff development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree required in nursing, health related field or MBA required.
- Three to five years of progressively more responsible clinical management experience.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan.
