The Director of Nursing (DON) under the direction of the Executive Director has 24-hour responsibility for nursing care of all residents through the performance of nursing personnel as outlined in their job descriptions. Is responsible for adherence to all State and Federal Guidelines for Skilled Nursing Facilities. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

•           Direct Resident Care: Is ultimately responsible for the assessment of resident’s needs (MDS) and development of resident’s plan of care with goals to ensure the residents are able to achieve optimal care and services.

•           Supervision: Regularly evaluates the progress toward these goals by resident rounds, observation of staff and change of shift reports.

•           Regulatory Requirements: Is responsible to audit charts regularly to ensure pertinent and accurate documentation has been completed including Medication Administration Records (MARS), treatment sheets, Flow Sheets, incident reports and Acute Change in Condition.

•           Staffing and Training: Is directly responsible for the interviewing, hiring, training, counseling and evaluation of nursing personnel, creation of nursing schedules according to budgeted hours and State Minimum Staffing Patterns.

•           Organizational Duties: Is responsible for the disposal of narcotics according to policy, end of month Medication reviews, education to all staff according to policy, incident reporting process, restorative nursing program, performance improvement and infection control program 

•             Graduate of an accredited school of nursing as a Registered Nurse.

•             Licensed RN in the State of Michigan

•             Has a minimum of 5-years' experience as a Nurse Supervisor in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
