Position Summary:  Responsible for providing spiritual and emotional support to patients, their families and staff on an on-call basis.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned:

  1. Responds appropriately to spiritual requests/referrals from patient, family members and staff.
  2. Participates in an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care and patient health.
  3. Provides spiritual support through listening, prayer and guidance in collaboration with staff and other primary caregivers.
  4. Participate in and provide educational programs for staff on ethical, spiritual and emotional issues.
  5. Develops and maintains a resource group of clergy within the community and healthcare system.
  6. Maintains records, reports and other documentation related to the work.      
  7. Performs other related duties as required and directed.

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Divinity, Theology or Religious/Pastoral Studies from a theological school or seminary required. Minimum of 1 CPE unit required.
  • Extensive contact with patients, visitors, and co-workers.

 

Preferred: 

  • Mater’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years in healthcare preferred.
  • Supervisory experience and computer skills preferred.
