Chaplain
Position Summary: Responsible for providing spiritual and emotional support to patients, their families and staff on an on-call basis.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned:
- Responds appropriately to spiritual requests/referrals from patient, family members and staff.
- Participates in an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care and patient health.
- Provides spiritual support through listening, prayer and guidance in collaboration with staff and other primary caregivers.
- Participate in and provide educational programs for staff on ethical, spiritual and emotional issues.
- Develops and maintains a resource group of clergy within the community and healthcare system.
- Maintains records, reports and other documentation related to the work.
- Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Divinity, Theology or Religious/Pastoral Studies from a theological school or seminary required. Minimum of 1 CPE unit required.
- Extensive contact with patients, visitors, and co-workers.
Preferred:
- Mater’s degree preferred.
- 3-5 years in healthcare preferred.
- Supervisory experience and computer skills preferred.
