Anesthesia Technician
Hours- Per diem/ Casual as needed
Position Summary:
Maintains and cleans anesthesia equipment. Orders and stocks the anesthetic supplies. Assists Anesthesiologist with invasive line setup/insertion.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Checks anesthesia machines daily for adequate level of supplies.
2. Assists the Anesthesiologist with invasive lines and intubations as needed.
3. Assists O.R. teams with patient care needs; responds to all patient care crises in the
O. R.
4. Cleans all anesthesia equipment according to established procedure.
5. Disposes of waste materials after each case and restocks with appropriate items.
6. Takes inventory and reorders supplies as needed.
7. Consults with Nurse Manager and Coordinators related to all capital purchases.
8. Facilitates the repair/replacement of defective anesthesia equipment.
9. Meets with sales and drug representatives as needed.
10. Performs Cell Saver functions.
11. Participates in performance improvement activities.
12. Provides for age specific need of the population served according to department standards, as evidenced by observation, documentation and peer feedback.

13. Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- CPR issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification
- Must successfully complete Anesthesia Tech course within twelve (12) months of hire/transfer
- Successful validation of IV insertion skills within twelve (12) months of hire/transfer
- Must successfully pass A.S.A.T.T. certification within twenty four (24) months of hire/transfer
- One (1) year minimum patient care experience in the Operating Room setting (i.e. Surgical Tech or Nursing Assistant).
